Bar Owners Association has mooted for Bar Kumi initiative to be established in all the units of administration to ensure strict adherence of liquor laws and the Ministry of Health directives.
Chairperson Simo Wa Jogoo averred that the Bar Kumi initiative will be the best remedy to wipe out rogue bars that operate illegally since the members of the initiative shall work with law enforcers to monitor the sale of beer in their areas of jurisdiction.
Mr Jogoo added that in efforts of following President Uhuru Kenyatta’s directives on the formula of re opening bars and restaurants, his association has formed an eight member team that will be meeting Cabinet Secretary for Health Mutahi Kagwe to share their ideas on the re opening formula.
“We thank President Uhuru Kenyatta for recognizing the investors in the beer selling industry, and as a result we have formed an eight member committee that will meet with the Cs on how the bars and restaurants will be reopened,” Mr Jogoo said.
He called on the bar operators to strictly follow the guidelines to avert clashing with the authorities and at the same time pleaded with them to join the association to face their challenges as a team.
“Sometimes we hear complaints from some of the operators and we may be in a position to help since they are not members, I urge those in this business to join the association so that we confront our challenges as a group,” he said.
