At Primary School, Linet Muthoni was studying hard to become a surgeon after school.
This was attested by brilliant performance in last year’s Kenya Certificate for Primary Education (KCPE).
But the social status of her family almost made her believe that her dreams of joining high school, leave alone her school of choice were invalid, null and void thanks to scholar MCA Charles Mwangi Ng’ang’a alias Ichagaki One.
When she was almost sure that there was no way she was going to join high school, Muthoni was left with no alternative other than taking her life, she was determined.
But the MCA got wind of the plan and involved stakeholders to save a life and make Muthoni’s dream come true.
While the visionary MCA mobilised for the school fees, the security apparatus in Maragua did their best to mobilise for shopping.
Muthoni who has promised to study hard to accomplish her dreams is now admitted at Kiangunyi High School.
“I won’t let Mheshimiwa down,I will ‘eat’ books and I can promise I will one day assist a needy student the way I have been assisted,” said the belated student.
She apologised for threatening to take her life and thanked the security agencies and Mheshimiwa for helping her out instead of arresting her.
On his part Ichagaki One said he will pay Muthoni’s full school fees for four years
“Sharing is caring, let us strive to do good and God will always remember us in all our endeavors,” he said.
According to the MCA, Maragua has been a den of illegal brews and this has been the main cause why young people don’t continue with their education.
He said its a high time to accelerate the fight against illicit brew so that young people can start embracing education
“If we want to fight illiteracy, we must join hands in the fight against illicit brew, Muthoni has defied all odds and we shall support her,” he said.
His acts of mercy comes few days after the teachers drawn from all the zones in Muranga South Sub County declared their support to his political ambitions.
They said Ichagaki One has has left an indelible mark in education sector and now want him to seek a bigger mandate in the entire Muranga County.
The various group that met at a hotel in Maragua acknowledged the MCA as a focused, down to earth and visionary leader who is accessible and approachable
