Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi has eulogised Gaturi Ward MCA Kiiru Mbembe as a fearless and independent minded leader who stood by what he believed.
Mr Mudavadi in his condolence message said the country has lost a bold leader who never shied away from expressing his freedom of speech.
Mr Mudavadi also announced that the deceased was planning to join ANC as a party of his choice which he would have used to defend his seat in 2022.
Mr Kiiru was elected as an independent candidate in a Jubilee dominated region.
He died on Friday at MP Shah of a liver disease.
Mt Kenya region ANC point man Kamau Gikuru described Mr Kiiru as a man with principles based on his stand on various motions and bills at Muranga County Assembly.
At the same time Muranga County Assembly Speaker Nduati Kariuki said the deceased was a seasoned debator on matters of law and public interest remembering his leadership abilities when he served as the chairperson of Finance and Economic Planning.
“The County Assembly has lost a great mind who represented the people of his Ward with boundless dedication and commitment,” The speaker said in a statement.
