A popular gospel artist Martin Wa Janet is among the heroes and heroines feted by President Uhuru Kenyatta for his exemplary and committed sacrifice on advocating and preaching peace through his music.
The Nituririkanitwo hit maker who also hosts Kigooco live at Kameme Tv, received his Head Of State Commendation (HSC) award at Ihura stadium during the Mashujaa day celebrations where Muranga County Commissioner Mohammed Barre represented the Head Of State to deliver the award.
The County Commissioner praised the iconic musician for using his artistic knowledge and experience to preach peace and promoting peaceful coexistence among Kenyans.
“Martin Wa Janet has worked selflessly and consistently to bring the much needed change in our society while at the same time promoting peace and tranquillity through his music career,” the State officer said.
While thanking the Uhuru Kenyatta led government for the award, Mr Martin said he would continue striving to promote harmony in the country and called on other Kenyans to preach peace through their areas of work to have an enabling peaceful and better nation for future generation.
“I’m truly humbled for being honoured as a shujaa for preaching peace through Kigooco and making a change as a public figure, I commit to continue doing the same and at the same time call on other Kenyans to do so in their little ways,” he said.
Martin, a member of Akorino sect, is known for his hit songs Nituririkanitwo, Mwathani tuonie and Umunywo Magego which promotes Christianity and harmonious relationship among Kenyans.
