Muranga Governor and Civic Renewal Party leader Mwangi Wa Iria has promised Gaturi Ward MCA elect Esther Mwihaki of his support as she discharge her duties as an MCA.
The governor made the announcement on Thursday when she met the MCA in a food donation drive where he was releasing food consignment to all the 35 Wards.
He described the MCA elect as a down to earth young turk who is well connected with the electorate and called on Muranga County Assembly to welcome her and show her the rule of the game.
“I will support the MCA discharge her obligations as a Gaturi Ward Representative, I equally request MCAs to support her,” he said.
Governor Wa Iria’s party did not field a candidate in Gaturi but instead, Wa Iria vigorously campaigned for Jubilee’s candidate Rosemary Wakuthii who emerged second after Ms Mwihaki who was fronted by Mp Moses Kuria’s affiliated little known PEP party.
The announcement by Mr Iria is a major boost for Ms Mwihaki given that he did not support the late Kiiru Mbembe upon his election but chose to entrust Ms Wakuthii in Gaturi development projects like roads construction.
Likewise, the CRP leader’s announcement is a major blow to Ms Wakuthii who has for a very long time banked on Wa Iria’s political support for political relevance at the grassroot level.
Ms Mwihaki said she would support Governor Mwangi Wa Iria at the Assembly level and at the grassroot for smooth delivery of services and development projects to her people.
The two are set to meet next week for discussions and familiarisation meeting at a venue that will be made public later.
Kk Online News has learnt that a host of MCAs allied to Wa Iria want the county chief to work with the MCA elect and not Ms Wakuthii.
Later on Ms Wakuthii attended the event only to learn that food donation meant for Gaturi had been handed over to Ms Mwihaki with further observance that the usual bravado, camaraderie and razzmatazz that existed between the two leaders was missing.
