When the name David Murathe is mentioned, many see him as President Uhuru Kenyatta’s buddy or the Jubilee Party Vice Chairperson.
But Mr Murathe has come out to explain other roles he plays under the President.
On Tuesday, the controversial Murathe accompanied Senate Chief Whip Irungu Kangata at Gathinja ACK church for the burial ceremony of his grandmother Rosemary Wairimu Kimani where he explained his engagements with the Head of State.
According to Mr Murathe, he is usually the director of UK center which he explained to mean Uhuru Kenyatta Center.
He said many people do not know his roles but he decided to make it clear that he leads the UK Center as its Director.
“I’m usually the Director for Uhuru Kenyatta Center (UK Center) I coordinate activities at the Center,” Mr Murathe stated.
And although he did not give much details or what exactly UK Center does, Mr Murathe’s sentiments seemed to suggest that all what he says in public has the blessings of the Head of State.
During the function, Mr Murathe, Dr Ruto’s harshest critic revealed that it was former Premier Raila Odinga who fronted Senator Irungu Kangata for the position of Chief Whip to replace Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika.
“It was Mr Odinga who worked tirelessly to ensure Mr Kangata gets the Chief Whip position.
He also praised the ODM leader for unlocking the revenue formula stalemate saying there were some counties that supports his (Odinga) Presidential bid that were losing but he went ahead and supported the formula which would have seen Mt Kenya Counties gain more money.
” While Dr Ruto’s Team Kenya faction used to wake up for Karen to be bribed by Dr Ruto, Mr Odinga forsake counties that supported him for our region and instructed Senators allied to him to support the third revenue generation sharing formula,” Mr Murathe said.
On his part the Senator cautioned electorates on supporting Dr Ruto saying his hatred towards Mt Kenya region was manifested by his opposition towards the revenue formula.
“If they opposed the formula that would have boosted the region, what will they do to us when they ascend to Presidency?” The Senator posed to the mourners.
He said President worked tirelessly to see the new formula pass and that the matter proved his love for the Agikuyu community.
Former Presidential Aspirant Peter Kenneth rebuked Tanga Tanga adherents for disrespecting President Uhuru Kenyatta and his mother and called for mature and sober politics.
“We can afford to live with our differences but we can’t insult our President,” he said.
He said he will continue supporting the President and complimenting his agenda adding that he shall support the President’s decree on BBI for a Constitutional change for the sake of better Kenya.
“I’m where the Head of State is, if he says we ammend the constitution, thats what we shall do,” Mr Kenneth said.
Kamau Mweha, Mr Odinga’s representative in Mt Kenya region availed the Opposition chief’s message of condolences.
