Ichagaki Ward MCA Charles Mwangi Nganga alias Ichagaki one is opposed to an idea of splitting a Constituency into two with an aim of creating a new Constituency.
He instead want the electoral agency to use the 2019 national census where Muranga County was found to have over a million people.
He dismisses leaders who have been agitating for splitting Kiharu Constituency into two saying the census was not based in Constituencies but County adding it was the reasons for the proposal to have a new electoral unit in Muranga.
According to the MCA splitting Kiharu Constituency into two would not only disadvantage other Constituencies but would also mean that four Constituencies in Muranga will not have attained the threshold of registered voters.
The Constituencies will be the proposed Kahuro and Kiharu Constituencies and Mathioya and Kangema which were classified as protected constituencies.
He proposes that to have a one man one vote one shilling idea, boundary review should be conducted in Mathioya Kangema and Kiharu where some wards will be relocated to these Constituencies to realize equality and equity in distribution of resources.
“I recommend that two wards from Kiharu be distributed to Mathioya and Kangema respectively so that all these three Constituencies will now have four wards each,” The intelligent MCA proposed.
He further proposes Maragua Constituency should get four Wards ie Ichagaki, Nginda, Kambiti and Kamahuha so that we have Makuyu Constituency comprising of Makuyu, Kimorori Wempa, Kakuzi Mitumbiri Ward and Ithanga Wards.
He opines that some parts of Kandara like Kagunduini Ward should be included in the new Constituency so that Kandara remains with five Wards.
“This will mean that a new Constituency will not only receive NGCDF but will also be listed as Arid and Semi Arid areas (Asals) and will be eligible for equalisation fund,” the MCA said.
He further calls for the reorganization of some locations to be moved to the nearby Constituencies so that all Constituencies gets almost equal number of inhabitants.
Mr Ichagaki One cautions politicians to desist from interfering with the IEBC during the electoral boundary review.
“We want politicians not to interfere with the IEBC when they start collecting views on boundary review, we want every Muranga resident to enjoy a national cake equally,” He said.
