As governor Mwangi Wa Iria’s term expires next year, his close aides and allies are gearing to seek various elective posts next year, to avoid becoming political orphans.
The allies will be seeking various seats in 2022 varying from MP to Women Representative to MCA.
The governor’s Chief of Staff Karanja Muturi who will be vying for Kigumo parliamentary seat leads the confidants hoping to clinch seats to avoid being rendered politically irrelevance after dining with the County boss for 10 years.
Others in Wa Iria’s camp who will be seeking elective posts include: Catherine Wanjiku alias Mama Sacco who in 2017 unsuccessfully vied for Women Representative post, Muranga Municipality Vice Chairperson Dr Judy Makira who will be vying for Kiharu MP, County Assembly Majority Leader Eric Kamande who will seek for Kigumo MP seat and Nominated MCA Habire Chege who will vie for Township Ward MCA.
Others are Gitugi Ward Administrator Samuel Mwangi alias Kifeeti who will take on the area MCA Mwangi Kihurunjo while Kiragu Karweru alias Ndegwa has already started making inroads in Mathira Constituency Nyeri where he will try to unseat Rigathi Gachagua.
Wa Iria’s former media liaison officer Jane Mbuthia resigned last year to concentrate in Mbeere South campaigns where she has been replicating Wa Iria’s programs such as issuance and distribution of hybrid seeds and avocado tree seedlings to the locals.
She has exuded confidence that she will unseat incumbent Geoffrey King’angi in next year’s polls.
“This region has been depending on relief food for a very long time and I decided to replicate the good programs of Governor Mwangi Wa Iria to donate hybrid maize seeds to our people which takes three months to mature,” she said.
On her part Dr Makira said that the programs and the vision at the Municipal Board if replicated in Kiharu Constituency would make the Constituency one of the best electoral areas across the country.
“Some of the programs that Im currently engaged with at the grassroots level include empowering women groups by donating dairy goats, motivating and donating hygiene tool kits to the school going children and fighting drug abuse plus talents search in the community by sponsoring football matches and rewarding the winners.
Patrick Muigai, Wa Iria’s party founding Secretary and a close aide of the governor will be seeking for Senatorial position.
Muigai has gone a notch higher to open the office of the Senate desginate in Muranga.
He told our political desk that the Usawa Kwa Wote Party will scoop the largest stake of political seats in the region.
Other Wa Iria’s staff who will be in the race include County Executive Member for Health Joseph Mbai who is contemplating vying for either Gatanga Parliamentary seat or the governorship seat and his Cooperatives CEC Paul Macharia who is eyeing Maragua seat
