Youth drawn from all Sub Counties in Kiambu County have ditched Jubilee party for Governor Mwangi Wa Iria’s Civic Renewal Party (CRP) and have promised the governor their unwavering support in his 2022 Presidential bid.
The youth from the 12 Sub-Counties namely Githunguri, Kiambaa, Lari, Limuru, Kabete, Gatundu North, Gatundu South, Juja, Kikuyu, Thika town, Ruiru and Kiambu Town on Thursday said Governor Wa Iria’s approach to low income earning Kenyans should be replicated for the whole country and thus their support to run for the country’s top job.
Speaking on Thursday after meeting party officials at Thika, the youth led by Wambui Wa Githurai and Edwin Kairu said they will not be dictated on who to elect as the President maintaining that a time has come for the electorate to chose their preferred leaders.
They spoke in reference to the ongoing discussions that there is a team being prepared to be presented to locals for consideration.
“We are closely following the state of politics in this country and we want to put a clique of people on notice, they will not decide who to elect on our own behalf, we shall follow our heart and desire to have a President who will govern the country in the best interests of all Kenyans,” Ms Wambui said.
She added that being a Mt Kenya’s true son, Wa Iria is the best placed person to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.
On his part, Mr Kuria, while lauding Uhuru Kenyatta led administration for its enormous development track record, he said Mr Wa Iria is the only leader who can be entrusted in continuing with the legacy.
CRP party official James Mwangi said the party has been receiving huge response from across the country with locals expressing their interest to join.
He said they will be visiting locals from Embu County next week even as the party gears to come up with an itinerary to visit all the regions.
“We have received interests from Kenyans from across the country who want governor Wa Iria to run for Presidency and we shall not let them down,” he said
