Small scale traders drawn from different parts of Kirinyaga County have warned Governor Ann Waiguru over what they describe as politicization of development projects.
The locals caution Waiguru not to politicize and trivialize the visit by Interior Ps Karanja Kibicho on Wednesday to inspect various National Government projects.
A day after Mr Kibicho led high powered government delegation which included 4 Principal Secretaries and 3 MPs and Senator Charles Kibiro, the governor came out gun blazing accusing Mr Kibicho of trying to take credit on the projects which she claim to have directly lobbied from President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“There projects which were being inspected are as a result of my lobbying. I personally lobbied for the construction of Wanguru stadium which is a devolved function, no one should milk with another person’s Nappier grass,” Ms Waiguru said.
The traders have told the governor off and want her to stop engaging in petty politics which could derail the implementation of development projects in the county.
“All what we want is development for our good, its improper and unwarranted for the governor to purport that Mr Kibicho should remain in Nairobi, he is our son since he belong in this County,” the traders told the press.
When speaking in Wanguru, Kagumo police station, Kiamanyeki and in Thiba dam, the PS steered clear of his mission in Kirinyaga and maintained that he was for the good of Kirinyaga and ensuring that President Kenyatta is respected and protected.
“Let those who think that we are in need of elective positions know that we are after development in our County. I also have a duty to protect President Uhuru Kenyatta
