Maragua legislator Mary Waithira Wamaua with over 50 women leaders want Deputy President William Ruto to tame his battalion to respect women.
She says it was high time the Deputy President disassociates himself with the leaders if they did not have his blessings to attack the President and his mother.
The MP said the careless utterances uttered by Kapsaret MP Oscar Sudi and his Emurua Dikirr counterpart Johana Nge’no towards President Uhuru Kenyatta and his mother Mama Ngina Kenyatta.
According to the legislator, the insults although directed to Mama Ngina Kenyatta, was an attack to the women in this country and they want the two leaders to apologise to the first family.
Speaking at Golden Palm Hotel Kenol on Wednesday, the MP said it was unfair, uncivilised and out of order for the leaders to hurl insults the President’s mother who she said has sacrificed for the country especially when the founding father Mzee Jomo Kenyatta was jailed for fighting for independence.
“This is a woman who has done a lot for the country and she can’t be rewarded with insults, Dr Ruto must tame his battalion because of lowering the dignity of women in the whole country,” Ms Wamaua said
She added that the utterances by the honourable leaders depicts us the leaders as people who have no manners and decency.
She said as a foot soldier of the President she would not sit and watch as leaders hurl insults to Mama Ngina.
She cautioned the leaders to apologise to the first family saying failing to do so would attract a curse to the leaders.
