A lobby group in Muranga has vowed to enforce President Uhuru Kenyatta’s directives on involvement of the whole cabinet during launching and inspection of national government development projects.
The group led by Muranga County Assembly Nominated MCA Habire Chege, political analyst and governor Mwangi Wa Iria’s aide James Mwangi, Samuel Mwangi alias Kifeeti said the President’s directives were very clear that no government official should purport to launch or inspect a project without involving the members of the National Government Coordination Committee that is led by Cs Fred Matiang’i or his Ps Karanja Kibicho and the local leadership led by governors.
The youth leaders said the directive was geared in ensuring that no government official takes credit for the projects that should be used to show case the achievements by President Kenyatta’s administration.
“We shall enforce the directives to the rogue officers whose agenda and aim is to milk the President Kenyatta’s achievements, whenever they visit the County without the express knowledge and company of the Coordination Committee, we shall storm their meeting and read them the President’s executive order of 2019 that appointed Mr Matiang’i to coordinate the visits,” Mr Habire said.
They took exception with Ps Irungu Wairagu who they accused of playing politics for his alleged 2022 gubernatorial ambitions accusing him of using government resources to advance his self political interests.
“We will be vigilant, we shall not allow the Ps or any other government official to misuse government resources to advance their agenda and this should extend to other counties,” Mr Kifeeti said.
On his part, Mr Mwangi alias JM welcomed the decision by the President saying some junior officers in pecking orders have been misusing the national government resources by advancing their own agenda instead of using their positions to explain to the electorates the gains by Jubilee administration.
“The President’s directives were long overdue, despite the achievements by Jubilee administration, some junior government officers have been guising as if it is them who have initiated the development agenda using their personal resources, we thank the President for cracking the whip and we want to put the rogue officials on notice,” he added
The youth leaders also urged the interior administrators like the County Commissioner, and Deputy County Commissioners to desist from being misused by a section of government offices by mobilizing resources for them in the name of launching projects.
“We are against misuse of state vehicles lined up to escort one individual claiming to launch projects. This must stop and the administrators should avoid being engaged to dirty politics or else we call for their transfer,” they warned.
