Political Advisor to Governor Mwangi Wa Iria has broken his silence hours after a word went viral that he has been fired for meeting Deputy President William Ruto at his Harambee Annex Nairobi.
Mr Moses Kangethe told Kkonlinenews.co.ke on phone that he has not received official communication about his firing although his sources at Muranga County Government headquarters have intimated that he is no longer in the County’s payroll.
He said he will continue discharging his mandate without fear, favour or affection as he is not aware about his sacking.
“I’m just hearing from social media that I have been fired, neither the governor or any County Official has communicated to me about and I will treat the news as rumours,” he said.
Asked whether his boss and employer was aware about his meeting with Dr Ruto, Mr Kangethe answered in affirmative saying the County boss was aware of the meeting and that they had even planned together.
“He was aware of my meeting with Ruto and we even planned together and if there is anywhere in our meeting that we discussed the him it was in positive,” he said.
He disclosed that they discussed about 2022 general elections and the succession politics,” he said.
But Wa Iria’s aide James Mwangi said it was true Mr Kangethe has been shown the door but did not divulge the details.
Nominated MCA Habire Chege likened the governor’s actions with President Kenyatta’s purge in house leadership saying politics is about interests and loyalty.
He said Mr Kangethe was escorted to Dr Ruto’s Harambee Annex by Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, who joined other politicians to insult the governor at Kandara Technical Institute in an event attended by the Deputy President informing the governor to storm the meeting a move that saw his supporters beaten by Dr Ruto’s guards.
“Its about loyalty, there are pending issues between the Deputy President and the governor over the assault meted to the governor’s people by Dr Ruto’s guards without mentioning that both Wa Iria and Dr Ruto are 2022 Presidential contenders,
“Mr Kangethe can’t have a shared loyalty between Ruto and Wa Iria and this left the governor without an alternative other than reliving him his duties,” Mr Habire said.
