Senate Chief Whip and Muranga Senator has singlehandedly funded the most peaceful and transparent Jubilee party primaries.
The Senator who is the only Jubilee leader from Mt Kenya region who sits at the National Executive Committee (NEC) was left to foot the bills after the ruling party failed to facilitate the primaries which attracted four candidates.
Our political desk has reliably learnt that the Gaturi polls have shown Mr Kangata’s influence in Jubilee party especially after the three main contestants were invited for a mediation at the party headquarters only for the bigwigs who include two Principal Secretaries had to wait for his verdict even after recommending that both Esther Mwihaki and Mr Joshua Githinji be given a job to give Ms Wakuthii a direct ticket.
Upon arrival the sharp minded and political conscious Senator decided to have the three be subjected for nominations to give Jubilee supporters a chance to democratically nominate their choice.
He said that all the three contestants were his friends and that it was only better for them to undergo scrutiny from Gaturi locals so as to have their best candidate for the ruling party.
This is what he said after meeting the candidates.. “Let the people decide . Democratic nominations for Jubilee Party in Gaturi Ward Kiharu constituency will be on Friday 9th October 2020 in every polling centre.”
The process has been hailed by Muranga County Jubilee Secretary General Mr Joel Mwaniki who said the elections were free fair and transparent where no single candidate raised an alarm or reported an election malpractice.
“The process was so fair that even one of the candidate (Joshua Githinji) conceded defeat and announced his support to Ms RoseMary Wakuthii who emerged the first with 1720 votes out of the 4000 votes cast,” Mr Mwaniki said.
He called on Jubilee party to borrow a leaf from Gaturi and replicate in all the by elections and even the general elections where locals are left to decide their preferred candidate without interference.
