Kirinyaga Deputy Governor Peter Ndambiri has told off Governor Ann Waiguru and some local leaders who castigated Interior PS Karanja Kibicho for inspecting national government projects in the County.
The Deputy Governor want the Kirinyaga leadership to respect the National Government employees.
Speaking after issuing food items to clergy to distribute to the vulnerable, Mr Ndambiri condemned some leaders who he said have been misled to lecture the PS and called on the Kirinyaga elders to give counsel to the youth to respect leaders.
He spoke in relation to the tug of war between the governor and the PS after the latter’s visit to the County to launch and inspect several national government projects including Wanguru stadium, Kagumo police station and the Thiba dam.
The governor accused Mr Kibicho of milking with her Nappier grass claiming that she was the one who singlehandedly lobbied for the projects to President Uhuru Kenyatta.
After the governor’s claims, some of her supporters including the MCAs joined the bandwagon and condemned the PS calling for his resignation.
Mr Ndambiri maintained that he would not stand and watch helplessly to a clique of people as they disrespect Mr Kibicho and other national government leaders.
“Can we respect each other and respect the national government leaders, because by disrespecting them we are actually attacking the President, we should not let the President feel like Kirinyaga is burning, we are behind him (President),” he said.
The Deputy Governor called on sobriety amongst the elected leaders and urged them to work in unity and shun the side shows and language of hate.
” I urge the elected leaders from the MCA, to the MPs and to the Senator to work together in unity and harmony and shun the language of hate, shouting and sideshows,” he said
